The Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity and Water’s 2,000MW gas-fired combined cycle power plant in Subiya, north of Kuwait, is approaching the end of its first phase. This will add a capacity of 1,300 MW to the electricity grid in 2011. The second phase will increase the capacity by 700 MW in 2012. The primary fuel will be natural gas, with distillate as the second fuel. The Mina Al Ahmadi refinery will supply the fuel feedstock by pipeline.
