GE Energy is supplying a Mark Vle integrated control system (ICS) to the 200MW PP10 Riyadh power plant owned and run by the Saudi Electricity Company. Around US$20bn is also being spent by the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) to develop more than 10GW of power. This will involve six separate IPP facilities. Between 2010-18 SEC intends to spend US$80bn creating an additional 20GW of energy. In the long-term, facilities which are due to come online are: a 2520MW plant in Ras Azzour, an 800MW plant in Shuqaiq, the 1200MW Rabigh plant, the Riyadh 2000MW PP11 plant, a 1000MW plant in Dheba and the 2000MW Qurayyah facility. The US$3.2bn Shuweihat 2 (IWPP) independent power and water project is being developed close to the Saudi border by GDF Suez Energy International, ADWEA and the Marubeni Corporation of Japan. The facility has received more than US$3.2bn in agreed funding thanks to a deal brokered by the Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA). Around 15 financial bodies have committed US$2.2bn in long-term debts to the project.
